Alaska Destination Guide--Anchorage

While Anchorage is Alaska's largest city, having 42% of the state's total population, it is relatively small by continental US standards at 277,000. It sits in the Alaska Time Zone, which is one hour earlier than Pacific Time, four hours earlier than Eastern Time.
The incorporated city limits are nearly 2,000 square miles in size, approximately the same as the entire state of Delaware; and is located in the region commonly known as South Central Alaska.
There are six mountain ranges visible from the city, including: the Chugach, Kenai, Talkeetna, Tordrillo, Aleutian and Alaska ranges. On a clear day, America's highest mountain--Mt. McKinley--can be seen in the northerly distance. 120 miles north of downtown Anchorage, the mountain stands over 20,000 feet in height, and is a part of the Denali National Park.
Anchorage is a diverse city, with year round activities to appeal to the visitor, and is a very popular cruise destination, both for 7 day cruises through the Inside Passage south to Vancouver BC, and as a jumping off place for cruisetours that include the interior of Alaska, such as Denali National Park, the Kenai Peninsula, Fairbanks and more. The annual events calendar is filled with hundreds of events and festivals sure to whet the appetite of even the most jaded traveler.
There is still time and space available to ensure you the opportunity to visit Anchorage or other ports in Alaska this summer season. For more information, contact us at customerservice@sea4sale.net and we will be more than happy to assist you in finding the Alaska trip of your dreams.
